Weekend Eye Candy

Its bridal shower day! This weekends eye candy is of my Mama's house, and her beautiful garden. As you can see, Henry enjoys it as much as we do ;-)

London Calling

I have never been to London but today would have been a fabulous day to be there! One of my favorite books Taschen's London, sets the bar high for places to stay, things to do, and where to dine when visiting the capital city. I better save my pennies because after reading this book I can't imagine a London experience any other way! The book has everything from a selection of stylish hotels, hip boutiques, vintage stores, and antique markets.

The only Taschen travel book I am missing is the Berlin one...

Garden Party

My bridal shower is this weekend and my lovely bridesmaid's have insisted that they do not need my help with anything. I realize that being the bride I probably shouldn't plan my own shower, but I am dying to throw a party!! The weather is finally getting warm here in DC and our backyard has never been so green. If I find a weekend between now and July where I have three hours of free time, I am totally having a cocktail party. I like to be prepared so I am going to plan the soiree just in case ;-)

Traditional Home

Mmmm, I saw this Recipe on House Beautiful's website Monday,
looks like it could be a summer staple!

Traditional Home
At The Little Nell in Aspen Colorado I was introduced to the most wonderful cocktail, the Montagna Martini. I highly recommend you make one... or two...

Recipe: Van Gogh wild apple vodka, St. Germain elderberry syrup (just a dash) and champagne on top served in a sugar rimmed martini glass with a strawberry garnish.

Is it Friday yet?!

Indian Flair

A-ma-zing foyer right?! So who was the designer responsible for this fabulous home?
My Mama! (I am allowed to brag, she's awesome)
Most people would be afraid to go this bold throughout the whole house so when my Mom's clients came to her and said our artwork is the inspiration for our home, she went all out!

Have you ever seen so many fun colors on one floor? Love it!!

Red Lizzie and Gray Lizzie

Grandma Lizzie on her wedding day
I was named after my father's mother, Elizabeth. When I was young people would often refer to us as red Lizzie and gray Lizzie. I love and adored my Grandma Lizzie, and miss her every day since she passed. Her apartment was charming and always tidy, but by no means an interior design inspiration like my parent's home. Nevertheless, one of my earliest memories of falling in love with a room or color scheme was at her apartment. Yesterday I wrote about how timeless black and white is, but thank's to Grandma Lizzie and her love of blue, nothing cheers me more than blue and white!

Black and White

Like pearls there are some things that never go out of style; in my opinion black and white rooms just happen to fall into that category. Black and white is a great color combination for people who do not like to commit to color. It's easy to create a designer look without actually hiring a decorator if you keep it simple. Regardless of whether the room is mainly black and white or if there are pops of color in throw pillows and tabletop accessories, black and white rooms are truly timeless.
